Miami County, IN โ€“ One woman is dead and two others are hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Miami County, according to Indiana State Police. The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Meridian Road near East County Road 500 North.

According to authorities, a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Jennifer K. Workman, 53, of Peru, was traveling northbound when it collided with a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Neal W. Birner, 62, also of Peru. A passenger in the Blazer, Tiffany D. Baker, 32, and two passengers in the Equinoxโ€”Eclista M. Birner, 89, and Michael V. Birner, 68โ€”were all from Peru.

Eclista Birner was pronounced dead at the scene by the Miami County Coronerโ€™s Office. Michael Birner and Jennifer Workman were flown by Lutheran Air to area hospitals with serious injuries. Neal Birner and Tiffany Baker were transported by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say there are currently no indications that alcohol or narcotics played a role in the crash. The family of the deceased has been notified.
