Miami, FL – A strong cold front will push across South Florida early next week, bringing the region’s first real taste of fall and possibly some stunned iguanas by Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-40s inland and the upper 40s to low 50s along the east coast by Tuesday, November 11. Areas like Immokalee, La Belle, and Lakeport could see lows near 43°F, while Miami and Fort Lauderdale may hover around 52–53°F.

This will be one of the coolest mornings of the season so far, occurring just days after the area typically reaches its first low below 60°F on average. While these temperatures aren’t dangerous to people, wildlife could react — particularly green iguanas, which become sluggish below 45°F and may fall from trees when temporarily stunned by the chill.

Forecasters note this front could bring clear skies and low humidity once it passes, signaling a brief but notable shift toward more typical November weather for South Florida. Residents are advised to bring pets indoors, protect sensitive plants, and use caution under trees where iguanas may drop overnight.
