Detroit, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. this morning for southeast Michigan, as light snow and gusty winds continue to cause slick road conditions during the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, up to two additional inches of snow are possible through midmorning, with wind gusts reaching 35 mph reducing visibility in open areas. The advisory includes Wayne, Macomb, Oakland, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac, and Monroe counties.
Officials warn that roads, bridges, and sidewalks may be icy and slippery, especially during the early hours. Commuters traveling along I-94, I-75, and M-59 should plan for longer travel times and patchy blowing snow.
Residents are urged to slow down and use caution while driving or walking outside, as icy conditions can lead to falls or minor accidents. Temperatures will remain near freezing through the morning before slowly climbing later today.
The snow is expected to taper off by late morning, though gusty winds could keep some blowing snow in open areas into midday.
