Grand Junction, CO – A wanted parole absconder and two others were arrested Thursday night after deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office uncovered methamphetamine, a handgun, and ammunition inside a Grand Junction hotel room.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Major Offender Task Force located 38-year-old Jason Soper at a hotel on the 700 block of Horizon Drive on December 18, 2025. Soper, who was wanted for absconding from parole tied to multiple felony convictions, was taken into custody after deputies surrounded the hotel room around 7 p.m.

Two additional suspects, identified as Kyle Billings, 38, and Saleah Campbell, 29, both of Grand Junction, were also arrested without incident.

During a search, deputies reportedly found more than three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine along with paraphernalia and a handgun with several rounds of ammunition. All three suspects face felony drug and weapons-related charges, including possession with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office credited assistance from the Grand Junction Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit in the arrests.
