Clifton, CO – Two people are dead following a late-night shooting in Clifton that has now been declared a double homicide, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 11:50 p.m. Friday, October 31, to reports of multiple shots fired at a residence on the 400 block of Cottonwood Lake Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found two victims suffering from serious injuries and immediately began CPR and lifesaving measures. Emergency medical crews from the Clifton Fire Protection District transported both victims to a nearby hospital.
According to investigators, the shooting appears to have occurred during a house party, where a suspect or suspects allegedly fired multiple rounds. Both victims were pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Saturday, November 1.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, as well as identify the victims. Authorities have not yet released any suspect information but say updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
