Mesa, AZ – East Valley drivers can expect major improvements along State Route 24 as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) moves forward with a major expansion project stretching from Loop 202 to Ironwood Drive.

According to ADOT, the project includes widening existing lanes, constructing new SR 24 bridges, and reconstructing the interchange at Ellsworth Road near Mesa Gateway Airport. New ramps will also be added to improve access and reduce bottlenecks during peak travel times.

A public meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21, from 6–7 p.m., where residents can review project details and share input. The virtual and in-person session will outline design plans and expected construction impacts.

Once complete, the SR 24 expansion will enhance connectivity between the Loop 202 Santan Freeway and growing communities in Mesa, Queen Creek, and Pinal County. Officials say the upgrades are designed to accommodate rising traffic volumes and future development in the rapidly expanding East Valley corridor.

Drivers are encouraged to visit azdot.gov/projects for project maps, updates, and public comment options.
