Franklin, PA – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for Mercer and Venango Counties through 1 p.m. Tuesday, with bands of heavy snow continuing to create hazardous travel across northwestern Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

Forecasters report that an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow are possible, with locally higher amounts under the most persistent snow bands. The heaviest snow is expected through midmorning, gradually tapering off by early afternoon.

The NWS cautions that slippery and snow-covered roads will make for dangerous travel conditions, particularly along portions of I-79, I-80, and local routes near Grove City, Franklin, and Oil City. Reduced visibility is also likely during heavier bursts of snow.

Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time for travel during the morning commute. Conditions should improve later today as snow intensity decreases.
