Memphis, TN – Tennessee residents should brace for a frigid night as temperatures drop into the teens and lower 20s. The National Weather Service warns that cold conditions tonight could result in frostbite or hypothermia without proper precautions.

According to the Memphis Weather Office, temperatures will fall to 18–22°F across the region tonight, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Friday morning’s commute may be icy, particularly on bridges and overpasses like those along I-40 and I-55.

Residents are urged to check outdoor pipes for proper insulation and ensure pets have adequate shelter. Schools and businesses should prepare for a cold start Friday, with daytime highs expected to reach only 38°F.

The weekend will begin sunny and calm, with Saturday’s high near 49°F, but rain returns by Sunday. The National Weather Service forecasts a 20% chance of showers late Saturday, increasing to 80% Sunday, with heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms Sunday night into Monday.

Drivers should monitor road conditions and avoid flooded areas. Looking ahead, next week brings cooler but stable conditions, with highs in the 50s and lows near freezing.
