Memphis, Tennessee – Slightly cooler air is settling across the Memphis metro and much of the Mid-South, bringing a break from typical early August heat as a drier pattern holds for most. According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a very low chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms remains, mainly for areas along the Mississippi/Alabama state line, northeast Mississippi, and counties near the Tennessee River through Sunday evening.

Daytime highs will stay in the low to mid-80s from Memphis to Jackson, with humidity staying in check—making for pleasant conditions at parks, pools, and on area highways. Cities including Corinth, Savannah, and Parsons could see spotty rain or thunder late today, but most locations will stay dry. No widespread hazards are expected, though residents along the Tennessee River should be alert for brief downpours and lightning if a storm develops.

Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads if isolated storms occur, especially along US-45 and in communities bordering Mississippi and Alabama. Otherwise, locals can take advantage of the cooler temperatures and limited storm activity to finish outdoor plans.

This stretch of cooler weather looks to continue into Monday, with only slight rain chances returning midweek. Updates from NWS Memphis will follow if new advisories or alerts are issued.
