MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Mid-South will get one more round of summerlike heat this weekend before a refreshing cooldown arrives early next week. Highs will reach the low to mid-90s through Sunday, keeping the region hot and humid a bit longer.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a shift in the pattern will bring temperatures down nearly 15 degrees starting Monday. Cities including Memphis, Jackson, and Jonesboro will drop into the upper 70s with lower humidity, marking a sharp change from the 90s dominating the weekend.
Communities like Tupelo, Dyersburg, and Oxford should expect highs near 94 on Sunday before falling into the 70s by Monday afternoon. The drop will be especially noticeable for evening and morning hours, when cooler air and lower dew points bring a more “fall-like” feel.
Travelers and outdoor workers are encouraged to take advantage of the cooler weather beginning Monday, though heat safety remains a concern through the weekend. Staying hydrated and limiting time in direct sun remain key until the transition arrives.
Cooler-than-normal conditions are expected to hold through much of next week, with highs remaining in the upper 70s to low 80s across the region.
