Memphis, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis is warning residents that Thanksgiving morning could start below freezing in several areas across the Mid-South, marking one of the coldest mornings of the season so far.
According to the NWS, near-freezing temperatures are expected Thanksgiving and Black Friday mornings, with some locations likely dipping below 32°F. Daytime highs will recover only into the 50s, keeping conditions chilly through the holiday weekend.
Forecasters are urging residents to protect outdoor plumbing, cover sensitive plants, and bring pets indoors ahead of the freeze. The greatest risk for subfreezing conditions appears to be across northern Mississippi, West Tennessee, and eastern Arkansas, where cold air will settle in before sunrise Thursday.
The Memphis area and surrounding counties should prepare now for potential frost and freezing temperatures that could impact outdoor plans and morning travel.
