Memphis, TN – A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of the Mid-South Wednesday, with forecasters warning of potentially hazardous gusts and scattered power outages.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, strong northwest winds reaching 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The advisory covers portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee, including Memphis, Jonesboro, Dyersburg, Olive Branch, and Clarksdale.
The NWS cautions that gusty conditions may knock down tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to use extra caution, particularly on open highways and bridges. Loose outdoor items should be secured before the winds increase.
The strongest gusts are forecast to occur Wednesday afternoon, when cooler, dry air pushes into the region behind a passing cold front. Temperatures will drop sharply by evening, bringing a brisk end to the day across the Mid-South.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through local weather alerts and prepare for brief service interruptions if power lines are affected.
