MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A cool, dry air mass settling over the Mid-South will bring the coldest mornings of the season so far, with lows dipping into the upper 30s and low 40s through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, temperatures will fall below 40°F in rural and low-lying areas of west Tennessee, north Mississippi, and east Arkansas late Thursday night into Friday morning. Some frost is possible across outlying communities from Oxford to Union City, depending on how quickly skies clear overnight.
Daytime highs will remain comfortable, reaching the upper 50s to low 60s under mostly sunny skies. The chilly pattern will hold through early next week, with a slow warming trend starting Monday. No rainfall is expected through the period, and winds will stay light, keeping ideal conditions for outdoor events and weekend travel.
If frost develops, residents should cover sensitive plants and bring outdoor pets inside during the coldest hours near dawn. Forecasters say a Frost Advisory may be issued for Friday morning if temperatures trend slightly lower.
The string of clear, calm days will continue into next week, reinforcing a classic late-October-to-November fall transition across the Mid-South.
