Memphis, TN – A thick blanket of dense fog has settled across the Mississippi River Valley this morning, sharply reducing visibility across western Tennessee, eastern Arkansas, and northern Mississippi. The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 11 A.M. CST, warning that visibility may fall below a quarter-mile at times, especially near waterways and low-lying areas.

Drivers traveling along Interstates 40, 55, and U.S. 61 should be prepared for rapidly changing visibility and hazardous travel through midmorning. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra space between vehicles.

Fog is thickest west of Memphis — from Forrest City and Blytheville, Arkansas, through Tunica and Clarksdale, Mississippi, and stretching eastward toward Collierville and Jackson, Tennessee. The fog is expected to gradually lift between 10 and 11 A.M., giving way to partly sunny skies by afternoon.

Temperatures will rise into the upper 50s and lower 60s, with light southwest winds helping to disperse remaining moisture. However, forecasters caution that similar fog conditions may redevelop early Sunday morning, especially where today’s moisture lingers overnight under clear skies.
