Memphis, Tennessee – A cold start to the week is giving way to a noticeable warming trend across the Memphis area, according to the National Weather Service.
Early Tuesday morning conditions at Memphis International Airport showed temperatures near 25°F, with calm to light winds producing wind chills near 16°F. Overnight lows dipped to around 24°F, marking one of the coldest mornings of the week for southwest Tennessee.
The National Weather Service reports that Tuesday will be sunny and dry, with highs reaching near 38°F. Clear skies Tuesday night will allow temperatures to fall again, with lows near 30°F, though widespread freezing conditions are expected to ease after that.
A significant warmup begins Wednesday, with sunny skies and highs climbing to around 51°F. Overnight lows Wednesday night are forecast near 35°F, remaining above freezing and signaling a shift to milder conditions.
By New Year’s Day, temperatures are expected to reach near 56°F under mostly sunny skies. Light southwest winds will continue to bring warmer air into the Mid-South, keeping daytime conditions comfortable for outdoor activities.
The warming trend continues into Friday, when highs may approach 58°F. However, increasing moisture will bring a 30 to 60 percent chance of showers Friday afternoon into Friday night. While no severe weather is anticipated at this time, rain could impact late-week travel.
Overnight lows Friday night are forecast near 41°F, with mostly cloudy conditions lingering into the weekend. Dry and mild weather is expected to return Saturday and Sunday, with highs remaining in the 50s.
No winter weather advisories or warnings are currently in effect. The National Weather Service notes that hazardous weather is unlikely during this forecast period.
Commuters, students, and early-shift workers should plan for cold mornings through Tuesday night, followed by a steady transition to spring-like temperatures later this week.
