Memphis, TN – A secondary cold front will push Arctic air into the Mid-South tonight, sending Monday morning temperatures into the mid-30s and keeping highs near 40 degrees along the I-40 corridor.
According to the US National Weather Service in Memphis, Monday is expected to be the coldest day of the next seven-day stretch as colder air filters in behind the front. Many areas across West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and East Arkansas may struggle to climb out of the 30s and lower 40s.
Forecast lows early Monday include near 34 degrees in Memphis, 33 degrees in Jackson, Tennessee, and mid-30s in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Daytime highs Monday are projected around 40 degrees in Memphis, 38 in Jonesboro, and low 40s in Tupelo.
North winds will add to the chill Sunday night into Monday morning, particularly for commuters traveling along I-40, I-55, and US-78. While no winter precipitation is expected, the colder air mass will create a sharp contrast from recent milder conditions.
Temperatures will begin rebounding Tuesday, with highs climbing back into the 50s by midweek. A return to near-normal conditions is expected by Wednesday, with the next chance of rainfall arriving late Wednesday.
The temperature swing may impact early morning commuters and students waiting outdoors Monday, as wind and cold combine for a brisk start to the day.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for timing adjustments or additional changes.
