According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the best chances for storms — ranging from 40% to 60% — will occur midweek, bringing brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning hazards. The pattern will shift by Friday as skies clear and heat builds, with multiple cities expected to approach triple-digit readings by Sunday.

Jackson, Jonesboro, Kennett, Memphis, Oxford, and Tupelo will all see highs in the low to mid-90s midweek before the weekend surge. Memphis is forecast to reach 96°F Friday and near 98°F by Sunday, while Jonesboro and Kennett could hit 97°F. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat and stay hydrated.

Heat safety officials recommend taking breaks in shaded areas or air conditioning and avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day. Additional weather alerts may be issued if heat indices climb above 105°F.
