A gray blanket of low clouds and patchy fog settled across Memphis early this morning, softening city lights and dampening visibility along I-40 and I-55. Drivers may notice wet pavement and a chill in the air as temperatures hover near 42°F, with calm winds and limited visibility at dawn.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, patchy fog will linger through about 10 a.m. CST, followed by gradually clearing skies and a high near 51°F. Conditions improve into the afternoon as light north winds develop, helping dry roadways and restore visibility across the Mid-South.

By Monday, sunshine returns with highs in the low 40s, then climbs to the low 50s by Tuesday, marking a bright, calm start to the week. Nights will remain crisp, dipping to near or below freezing through midweek — a reminder that early December frost season is officially here.

Looking ahead, Wednesday brings partly sunny skies and warmer air near 57°F, but forecasters note a slight chance of showers by Thursday as the next weak front approaches. Longer-range models hint at colder air moving south from the Great Lakes between December 11–17, which could bring the first true winter chill for the region and icy conditions farther north.
