Memphis, TN – Extreme Cold Warning Issued for Mid-South Region

An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until noon Thursday for parts of eastern Arkansas, northern Mississippi, and western Tennessee, with wind chills dropping as low as -3°F in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Cold Weather Advisorywill follow from midnight Thursday to noon Friday, with temperatures expected to plummet to zero degrees in certain locations. The affected area includes Memphis, Jackson, Oxford, and Tupelo.

Officials warn that frostbite and hypothermia can occur with prolonged exposure. Residents should wear multiple layers, including hats, gloves, and face coverings if going outdoors.
