Memphis, Tennessee – A return to summer heat is on the way for Tennessee and the Mississippi Delta, with 90-degree temperatures expected to build by midweek and linger through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, below-normal temperatures will gradually climb, with much of West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas likely to see highs reach 90 degrees by Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday remains the best shot for widespread 90s across the region, especially in the Delta where probabilities top 75%.

Despite the return of the heat, forecasters say heat index values are expected to stay below 100 degrees—keeping conditions below heat advisory criteria. Still, residents should take precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Urban areas like Memphis, Clarksdale, and Tupelo could see the most noticeable rebound in daytime highs. With humidity levels rising, outdoor workers and vulnerable populations should stay hydrated and avoid extended exposure during peak heat hours.

Conditions will remain near-normal for early August, but residents are urged to stay weather-aware in case heat advisories are needed later in the week.
