Memphis, TN – Thunderstorms are bringing dangerous flash flooding across western and middle Tennessee overnight, prompting the National Weather Service to issue several flash flood warnings that remain in effect until early Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis and Nashville, flash flooding has been reported across multiple counties, including Shelby, Fayette, Haywood, Madison, Montgomery, and Dickson. Heavy rainfall between 1 and 3 inches has already fallen in many locations, with an additional 1 to 3 inches expected through early morning hours.

The warnings are in effect through various times, with the latest expiring around 7:15 a.m. CDT. Areas impacted include Memphis, Jackson, Clarksville, Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville, and Camden. Radar indicates ongoing flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, streets, and underpasses. Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways and heed the warning: Turn around, don’t drown.

Crews are monitoring flood-prone zones, especially near creeks and drainage systems already overwhelmed by runoff. Residents in affected regions should stay alert for updated weather alerts and seek higher ground if necessary.

Officials advise against nighttime travel in impacted counties and recommend keeping mobile devices charged and weather apps active for rapid updates. Flood conditions may worsen before dawn as rainfall persists.
