Phoenix, Arizona – Memorial Day weekend plans across Arizona may need shade and hydration as dangerously hot temperatures spike to 105°F in some desert areas Friday, the hottest day of the extended holiday stretch.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, highs across the lower deserts — including Phoenix Metro, Yuma, and Southeast California — will reach 100–105°F on Friday before slightly dipping into the upper 90s Saturday through Monday. Breezy and partly cloudy conditions will offer minimal relief in some regions.

Phoenix will see temperatures climb to 100–104°F Friday, with little cooldown in the evenings as lows hover in the upper 60s. Southwest Arizona and parts of Southeast California face similar conditions, with areas like Yuma expected to stay above 100°F through much of the weekend. Globe and Miami will remain slightly cooler but still in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors. This heat wave arrives ahead of the Southwest’s typical monsoon season, posing elevated health risks for outdoor recreation and travel.

High heat remains in place through Memorial Day, with updates expected from NWS if excessive heat warnings are issued.
