Melbourne, Fla. – A Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday evening for much of east-central Florida, where steady onshore winds and tropical moisture are fueling rounds of heavy rain from Daytona Beach to Stuart. Low-lying neighborhoods and flood-prone roads could quickly become impassable during the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, persistent coastal showers are expected to spread inland through the day, with rainfall totals potentially exceeding two inches in some areas. Urban and small-stream flooding may occur along the Indian River Lagoon, the St. Lucie River, and in poor drainage zones across Brevard, Volusia, Indian River, Saint Lucie, and Martin counties.

Drivers are urged to use caution on A1A, U.S. 1, and I-95, where ponding and reduced visibility are likely during heavier downpours. Residents in flood-prone communities should secure belongings, clear storm drains, and remain alert for Flood Warnings if rainfall intensifies.

The Flood Watch remains in effect until this evening, though isolated downpours could persist overnight as moisture lingers along the coast.
