Melbourne, FL – The National Weather Service in Melbourne reports cooler weather today across east-central Florida, with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Skies remain mostly dry except for isolated afternoon showers along the southern Treasure Coast.

The main hazard today is dangerous beach conditions, as a High Risk for rip currents remains in effect along all Atlantic beaches, including the Daytona, Space, and Treasure Coasts.

  • Rain chances: 10–20%, highest near the Treasure Coast
  • Surf: 4–5 ft, producing strong rip currents
  • Conditions: Breezy and mostly dry

  • High Rip Current Risk:
    • Applies to all Atlantic beaches in Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties.
    • Numerous, strong, life-threatening rip currents are expected.
    • Stay out of the ocean. Entering the water is strongly discouraged.
  • Even on sunny days, rip currents can occur without warning.
  • If caught in a current: don’t fight it — swim parallel to shore and call for help.
