Medford, Oregon – A brutal stretch of July heat will intensify across southern Oregon Wednesday, with temperatures in Medford expected to soar to 104°F by mid-afternoon. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and health officials are urging residents to limit time outdoors and stay hydrated.

According to the National Weather Service, haze will linger into the afternoon before skies clear slightly Wednesday night. Winds will remain mostly calm, offering little relief. High heat and stagnant air could increase health risks for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.

Drivers along Interstate 5, particularly between Medford and Grants Pass, should prepare for reduced visibility due to lingering haze, especially before 2 p.m. Wednesday. Limit non-essential travel during peak heat hours (3–6 p.m.) and never leave pets or people in parked vehicles.

Wednesday’s high of 104°F could mark the hottest day of the week. Temperatures remain dangerously warm through Friday, with highs of 100°F Thursday and 99°F Friday. Overnight lows in the upper 60s offer minimal cooling, so energy conservation and hydration remain critical.

Looking ahead, the weekend stays hot:

  • Saturday: Mostly clear, high 96°F
  • Sunday: Sunny, high 92°F
  • Monday: High near 94°F under sunny skies

While no rain is expected, elevated fire risk and air quality issues could persist through early next week.

⚠️ Reminders: Stay in air-conditioned areas, check on neighbors, and follow updates from Jackson County Emergency Management as advisories may extend past Wednesday.
