Oregon’s Rogue Valley is gray and damp this morning, with light rain streaking across Medford and temperatures hovering near 43 degrees. Pavement along I-5 and Crater Lake Highway is already wet, and conditions will stay unsettled through President’s Day.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, rain continues today with highs near 51 degrees and precipitation chances around 70 percent. Showers ease briefly tonight, but steadier rain redevelops Sunday afternoon and evening. Highs Sunday reach the lower 50s before a colder push arrives late.
By President’s Day Monday, temperatures top out near 45 degrees with rain likely. Snow levels lower to around 3,500 feet during the day, then drop sharply to near 2,100 feet Monday night. That change opens the door for a rain-to-snow mix in parts of the valley after dark as lows dip to around 27 degrees.
Even minor snow accumulation can create slushy patches on elevated roads. Watch bridges and overpasses on I-5, especially south of town toward Ashland. This is the time of year when wet pavement can refreeze quickly once temperatures slip below freezing.
Rain and snow chances continue Tuesday with highs near 41 degrees. Snow levels fluctuate between 1,400 and 1,800 feet, keeping nearby passes slick. Additional rounds of rain and mountain snow linger into midweek.
Looking ahead, temperatures gradually rebound later next week. President’s Day Week may finish milder, with above-normal readings hinting at early spring vibes across southern Oregon.
