Medford, OR – The National Weather Service Medford has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains, in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters expect 6 to 10 inches of snow across elevations above 4,500 feet, with up to 16 inches possible above 6,000 feet — especially near Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Crescent Lake. Winds may gust up to 60 mph over exposed terrain, creating blowing snow and reduced visibility.

The heaviest snowfall is expected Saturday afternoon, when snow rates could reach one inch per hour. Travel along Highways 62, 138, 230, 58, and 238 may become hazardous or delayed, particularly through high mountain passes.

Drivers are urged to use extreme caution, check road conditions via TripCheck.com, and carry emergency supplies, including tire chains and warm gear.

Strong winds could also cause tree damage and isolated power outages in higher elevations.
