MEDFORD, Ore. – The Rogue Valley woke shrouded in a thick, milky haze this morning — headlights glowing faintly through layers of fog that clung to orchards, fields, and the quiet streets of downtown Medford. Visibility in some spots dipped below a quarter mile, forcing drivers on I-5 and Highway 62 to crawl through the early hours with caution.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through late morning for much of southwest Oregon and far northern California. The advisory covers the Umpqua, Rogue, and Illinois Valleys, as well as the Klamath Basin. Motorists should allow extra time for travel, keep headlights on low beam, and leave plenty of distance from other vehicles. The fog should thin gradually by midmorning as drier air filters into the valleys.
Once the gray lifts, southern Oregon enjoys a taste of late-fall warmth. Sunshine will push highs into the upper 60s and low 70s through Monday — mild for early November. Calm winds and clear skies will make for perfect outdoor plans, from football games to early holiday yard prep.
But to be fair, this stretch of tranquil weather won’t last long. By midweek, models hint at a wetter pattern returning from the Pacific. Light showers could reach the coast and Cascade foothills Wednesday night, possibly marking the start of Oregon’s next November rain cycle. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts and stay alert for shifting travel conditions later in the week.
