Medford, OR – A cold front sweeping across southern Oregon will bring widespread rain showers through Monday evening, with the heaviest precipitation expected in Curry County, western Siskiyou County, and the Mount Shasta region. Forecasters caution that gusty winds and colder temperatures will follow the system, creating slick travel and potential frost conditions across several valleys.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, snow levels will hover around 5,000–6,000 feet, confining snowfall to higher terrain. Gusty southerly winds may impact the Shasta Valley and exposed east-side locations through early Monday. While precipitation tapers Monday night, lingering cold air behind the front will drop overnight temperatures significantly into early Wednesday morning.

High-impact frost or freeze conditions may develop across the Rogue, Applegate, and Illinois valleys, with the Umpqua Valley also seeing the potential for frost. Residents in these areas are encouraged to protect sensitive plants, pets, and outdoor infrastructure as temperatures fall below seasonal norms.

Tuesday will remain cool and mostly dry, though another weak system is expected to arrive late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing additional showers west of the Cascades. Although rainfall amounts appear modest, forecasters say this midweek system could increase cloud cover and keep temperatures from rebounding until late week. East side regions and Siskiyou County will also see another round of chilly overnight temperatures.

No hazardous conditions are currently anticipated with the midweek system, but drivers in higher terrain and coastal ranges should continue to monitor updated forecasts as wet roads and occasional gusty winds may create localized travel concerns.

Residents across Jackson, Josephine, Curry, and Siskiyou counties should stay alert for overnight frost advisories as temperatures drop behind the front.
