Woodstock, IL – A three-vehicle collision on Davis Road in unincorporated Woodstock killed three people and left a juvenile seriously injured on Friday afternoon.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, along with Woodstock Police and Fire Rescue, responded to the scene around 12:02 p.m. Authorities report that a Dodge Challenger Hellcat, speeding westbound, attempted to pass a Jeep Wrangler in a no-passing zone. As the Hellcat approached a hilltop, it collided with an eastbound Volvo XC90, forcing the Volvo off the road and rotating before catching fire.

The two individuals in the Hellcat died on the scene, while a 47-year-old woman in the Volvo also died. The juvenile passenger in the Volvo was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in serious condition. The Jeep’s occupants escaped injury.

Authorities found alcohol containers at the scene but have not determined if alcohol played a role. Speed and reckless driving are suspected as contributing factors, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Major Crash Investigation Unit and the Coroner’s Office.
