McHenry County, North Dakota Crash: 63-Year-Old Driver Killed in Rollover Near Towner Tuesday Afternoon

Towner, North Dakota – A fatal rollover crash has shut down part of a rural roadway north of Towner, leaving one person dead and prompting an ongoing investigation by state authorities.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:03 p.m. Tuesday along Willow Road and 67th Street SE, approximately three miles north of Towner. A 2026 Honda Odyssey traveling south left the roadway and rolled over under clear, dry conditions.

Emergency crews, including the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Towner Fire Department, and local ambulance services, responded to the scene. The 63-year-old male driver from Bismarck was transported to Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities noted road conditions were reported as good at the time of the crash, with sunny weather and no immediate hazards contributing to visibility or traction issues. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Drivers in rural parts of McHenry County are urged to remain alert, especially on lightly traveled roads where sudden departures can occur without warning.
