Authorities said the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on November 6, 2025. Deputies and the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District responded to the scene, where a 2016 GMC Acadia traveling eastbound reportedly struck the man in the eastbound lane.
According to the sheriff’s office, the pedestrian was found unconscious and transported first to Northwestern Medicine Hospital McHenry, then to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he later died.
The driver of the Acadia, a 34-year-old woman from Genoa City, Wisconsin, was traveling with a 35-year-old male passenger and four minor children. All occupants were properly restrained and uninjured in the incident. No airbags deployed, officials said, and the driver is cooperating with investigators.
