McHenry County, IL – Families are invited to a festive and safe Halloween celebration this month as the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office hosts its annual Trunk-or-Treat Open House on Saturday, October 18, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the event will feature candy-filled trunks, themed decorations, and opportunities for children to meet deputies and explore law enforcement vehicles. Each division of the department will take part, giving families a behind-the-scenes look at local public safety operations.
The open house aims to provide a fun, family-oriented environment while strengthening community connections. Costumes are encouraged, and visitors can expect photo opportunities, demonstrations, and plenty of Halloween treats.
The event will be held at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, and admission is free. Families are encouraged to RSVP through the department’s Facebook event page.
With Halloween approaching, local officials remind families to prioritize safety and use this event as a secure alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating.
