Spring Grove, IL – A stretch of Winn Road in Spring Grove has been closed after power lines were brought down during a traffic accident, officials said.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Winn Road is shut down between Martin Road and Monterra Drive. The closure is expected to last at least seven hours, though deputies warned it could remain in place longer depending on repair work.

Authorities reported that the crash caused utility lines to fall across the roadway, creating hazardous conditions. Crews are currently working to clear the lines and restore safe passage, but drivers are being urged to avoid the area until further notice.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately provide details about the crash itself or whether anyone was injured. Power companies have been dispatched to repair the damage, and traffic control measures are in place to redirect drivers.

Residents and commuters in the area are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow for extra travel time. Law enforcement also reminded drivers not to attempt to move barricades or drive around closures, as downed power lines pose a serious safety risk.

Updates on the closure will be provided as repairs progress, officials said.
