McHenry, IL – A 77-year-old man from McHenry died Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash in unincorporated McHenry, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office reported that the crash occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on September 9, 2025, in the 2500 block of Ringwood Road, just south of Martin Road. Deputies, along with McHenry Police and McHenry Fire Protection District, responded to the scene.
According to authorities, a 2020 Ford Explorer was traveling northbound when a 2013 Toyota Highlander, heading southbound, crossed into the northbound lane and struck the Explorer head-on.
The driver of the Highlander, identified as a 77-year-old man from McHenry, was transported to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Officials said the driver of the Explorer, a 32-year-old woman from Wonder Lake, and her two juvenile passengers were also transported to Northwestern Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased man pending family notification. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
