McHenry County, IL – A serious crash left two men injured near Union on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, when their vehicles collided at the intersection of Illinois Route 176 and North Union Road. A 57-year-old Woodstock man and a 69-year-old Huntley man were involved in the two-vehicle crash, which caused significant damage to both vehicles.
According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at 7:59 a.m. when a 2024 Lexus LX 600 traveling northbound on North Union Road failed to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection. This caused a collision with a 2021 GMC pickup truck traveling westbound on Illinois Route 176. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway and come to rest in a field area.
The driver of the Lexus, a 69-year-old man, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital in stable condition. The 57-year-old GMC driver was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious but stable injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed during the crash.
McHenry County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit is continuing its investigation.
