Chicago, IL – A new seasonal dessert option has arrived at McDonald’s locations nationwide, as the fast-food chain introduces its limited-time Blueberry & Crème Pie to menus just in time for the Fourth of July.

McDonald’s began offering the pie on Monday as part of a broader strategy to boost summer traffic and generate social media engagement. The dessert features blueberries and vanilla crème layered side by side inside McDonald’s traditional baked pastry shell, served warm.

In select markets, including Louisville, Kentucky, the dessert is priced at $1.99 for a single pie or $3.98 for two. That aligns with pricing for the Apple Pie and follows last year’s rollout of Cookies & Crème Pie and the seasonal Holiday Pie, which typically returns each winter.

The Blueberry & Crème Pie also comes less than a month after the launch of the Hershey’s S’mores McFlurry, another limited-time offering set to remain on menus through mid-August.

According to the company, desserts are playing an increasingly important role in McDonald’s growth strategy, particularly as competition rises from dessert-focused chains like Jeremiah’s Italian Ice and Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. Earlier this year, McDonald’s created a global category management team to accelerate product innovation, especially in beverages and sweets.

Other major chains are responding similarly. Taco Bell plans to launch an Ube Strawberry Cookie later this year, while Wendy’s is expanding its Frosty customization options to include sauces and mix-ins.
