Boston, MA – A winter weather advisory has been issued for Western Massachusetts, with mixed precipitation expected to hit the region from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service is warning of snow and sleet accumulations between 1 to 4 inches, with the heaviest snow expected in higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers areas such as Western Franklin, Eastern Franklin, Northern Worcester, and parts of the Berkshires. Roadways in these areas, particularly at elevations above 1,000 feet, may become snow-covered. In lower elevations, roads are more likely to be wet or briefly slush-covered. Ice accumulations could also lead to a light glaze on surfaces.
The winter conditions are expected to transition into rain and drizzle by Saturday afternoon, providing some relief from the early morning snow and sleet. Travelers in the affected areas are urged to slow down and remain cautious on the roads, particularly in higher terrain, where conditions may worsen.
