Boston, Mass. – Storms could disrupt Friday plans across eastern Massachusetts, but residents can expect a sunny turnaround in time for the Labor Day weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, showers and possible thunderstorms are expected Friday morning into the afternoon, with rain chances near 70 percent and gusts up to 20 mph. Storms may bring brief downpours, though rainfall totals will likely stay under a quarter-inch.

Boston, Worcester, and surrounding communities may see wet road conditions during the morning commute, especially along I-90 and Route 128. South winds will shift northwest Friday night, keeping skies partly cloudy but clearing quickly by Saturday.

The weekend looks ideal for holiday travel and outdoor events. Highs will hover in the mid to upper 70s with plenty of sun Saturday through Monday. Winds remain light, helping to keep conditions calm for beach trips, barbecues, and traffic headed to Cape Cod.

With a sunny stretch expected, residents should prepare for higher beach traffic and increased demand at coastal areas. Officials urge drivers to remain cautious Friday morning until the storms pass.

Clear skies are expected to hold through midweek, with no major storm systems on the horizon.
