Boston, MA – Thunderstorms are expected to push across eastern Massachusetts Saturday night, bringing heavy rain, patchy fog, and gusty winds that could complicate late-night travel. The National Weather Service says downpours are most likely between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., with the strongest storms capable of producing brief flooding and wind gusts up to 28 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Norton, rainfall amounts could reach up to half an inch overnight, with visibility dropping below a mile in spots. Drivers should use caution on I-93, the Mass Pike, and Route 128 where slick conditions and fog may reduce travel times.
Sunday will bring scattered showers early before skies gradually turn partly sunny by afternoon. Temperatures will hover in the upper 60s, with lingering damp conditions in coastal communities including Quincy, Lynn, and Revere. By Sunday night, skies are expected to clear as drier air moves into the region.
Travelers planning flights out of Logan International Airport should prepare for possible delays Saturday night due to thunderstorms and reduced visibility. Conditions improve steadily by Monday, when sunshine and calmer winds return.
More showers may redevelop by midweek, with another round possible Wednesday.
