Boston, MA — After a mild start to the week, colder temperatures will settle across Massachusetts, bringing freezing nights and gusty winds by Tuesday. Residents should prepare for a noticeable shift, with daytime highs dropping into the 30s and lows plummeting to the teens.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 33°F and west winds gusting up to 21 mph. Temperatures will dip drastically Tuesday night, with a low of 15°F expected. The chillier air could impact commuters, especially in areas prone to black ice formation, such as the Mass Pike and I-93.
The cold weather trend will continue Wednesday, with highs reaching only 30°F under clear skies. Winds will moderate, but the bitter overnight low of 19°F will persist. By Thursday, the region will see similar conditions, with sunny skies and highs near 30°F, though slightly calmer winds.
Friday will bring a brief reprieve, with highs climbing to 38°F under sunny skies. However, clouds return Friday night, and rain becomes likely by Saturday as a storm system moves in. Highs on Saturday will reach 46°F, offering temporary relief from the chill but increasing the chance of slick roads overnight as temperatures fall.
Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, monitor road conditions, and keep an eye on forecasts as the weather pattern evolves. For those traveling later this week, plan for potential delays and wet conditions heading into the weekend.
