Boston, Mass. – Residents across Massachusetts will wake to crisp air Sunday morning after overnight lows dip into the upper 30s and low 40s, with some hill towns in Western Massachusetts approaching the mid-30s. The cool start gives way to a mild, sunny afternoon, making for one of the most pleasant weekends of September.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, skies will remain mostly clear through tonight, setting the stage for temperatures as low as 38°F in Pittsfield, 39°F in Greenfield, and low 40s in Worcester and Fitchburg. Metro Boston and Cape Cod will stay slightly warmer, holding closer to the mid-40s.

Sunday will bring a noticeable warm-up under partly sunny skies. Highs will climb into the upper 60s to low 70s across much of the state, including 72°F in Springfield, 70°F in Boston, and near 68°F in Hyannis. The dry, comfortable conditions are expected to encourage outdoor activity, from apple picking in central Massachusetts to late-season beachgoers along the Cape.

The clear stretch is expected to hold into early next week, with seasonably cool mornings followed by mild, sunny afternoons.
