BOSTON, Mass. – The glow of streetlights glistens off damp pavement along the Charles River this morning as a few passing clouds hint at a changing pattern. A cool, calm start will quickly give way to thickening clouds, and by this afternoon, parts of eastern Massachusetts could see light showers developing — the first sign of a busy weather stretch ahead.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, scattered rain is expected by mid- to late afternoon across the Boston metro area. Winds will stay light from the south, but gusts near 20 mph could kick up ahead of the system. Temperatures will climb near 59°F, mild for early November, before cooling sharply after sunset as rain chances taper. Commuters should plan for damp roads along I-90 and Route 128 during the evening drive.

Tuesday brings a quick rebound — bright skies, breezy west winds, and highs near 56°F. It’s a welcome break before clouds rebuild Wednesday as another round of showers approaches. Rain looks most likely late Wednesday into Wednesday night, with gusts again topping 25 mph.

By Thursday, drier air sweeps in from the northwest, clearing skies and dropping highs into the lower 50s. Friday stays cool and partly sunny, setting up a crisp, pleasant start to the weekend.

Looking toward Veterans Day weekend, expect more classic New England November weather — chilly mornings in the 30s, highs in the upper 40s, and just a hint of early winter air on the horizon.
