Boston, MA – Massachusetts residents should prepare for a turbulent weather pattern this week, with snow showers, rain, and gusty winds creating potential travel disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs reaching 41°F. However, strong northwest winds between 11 and 17 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph, will make it feel much colder. The nighttime temperature will drop to 17°F under mostly clear skies.
Wednesday remains dry during the day, with a high of 31°F and west winds around 5 to 7 mph. However, by Wednesday night, a weak system will move in, bringing a 40% chance of snow showers. Overnight temperatures will dip to 21°F as winds shift southward at 5 mph.
Midweek Travel Hazards Expected
Thursday marks the most impactful weather day of the week. Early morning snow may mix with rain before transitioning into steady rainfall by the afternoon. The high will reach 45°F, but patchy fog and gusty southeast winds of 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph, could significantly reduce visibility.
Rain is expected to persist into Thursday night, with temperatures falling to 30°F. Southwest winds will pick up to 10 mph, with gusts reaching 23 mph. Drivers should exercise caution, as wet roads combined with dropping temperatures could lead to slick conditions.
Clearing Out for the Weekend
Friday will bring a much-needed break from precipitation. Mostly sunny skies return, with a high of 37°F. However, west winds between 10 and 14 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph, will make it feel brisk. Friday night remains dry and cold, with lows around 21°F.
By Saturday, sunshine continues, with highs climbing to 36°F. Winds will still be breezy, around 6 mph from the west.
Stay Alert for Weather Updates
With snow and rain set to impact Massachusetts midweek, travelers should monitor forecasts and allow extra time for commutes. Conditions could shift rapidly, especially Wednesday night into Thursday.
