Boston, Massachusetts – Massachusetts is expected to see a quieter stretch of winter weather next week, with limited chances for snow or rain and no strong signal for widespread travel disruptions from Monday through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of Massachusetts falls within a below-normal to near-normal precipitation zone during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures are projected to trend above seasonal averages at times, reducing the likelihood of sustained snow events and favoring generally dry conditions.
Eastern Massachusetts, including Boston, Cambridge, and Quincy, may see brief, low-impact precipitation at times, but any snow or rain chances appear limited and short-lived. Interior areas such as Worcester and the Merrimack Valley could see a few flurries or light snow showers, though accumulations are expected to remain minimal. Major routes including I-90, I-93, and Route 128 are not expected to see prolonged winter weather impacts during this stretch.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation typically notes that even during quieter patterns, localized slick spots can still develop during overnight cold snaps. Drivers should remain alert during early morning commutes, especially on untreated side roads.
The drier trend looks to hold through much of the workweek, though brief disturbances could still bring isolated precipitation. Residents should continue monitoring updates, but widespread winter weather impacts appear unlikely through Friday.
