Massachusetts – Bright sun reflects off patches of old snow across Boston Common this morning, but the calm start will not last. Temperatures sit at 32 degrees at Logan Airport, and a light north breeze keeps the air crisp. Roads are dry for now, giving commuters a quiet window before winter returns.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, sunshine pushes highs to 38 degrees today. Clouds increase tonight with lows dropping to 25. The next system arrives Friday. A slight chance of snow develops before 11 a.m., then transitions to rain by afternoon as highs reach 38. Precipitation chances climb to 80%, though little daytime accumulation is expected.

The bigger impact comes Friday night. Snow becomes likely, possibly mixing with rain early, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of new snow by early Saturday. Plan for plow crews and slick travel on I-93, the Mass Pike, and Route 1 after sunset.

Saturday remains cloudy with a 50% chance of additional snow and highs near 33. Even light bursts could coat untreated roads. Saturday night dips to 22 degrees. Watch for flash freezing where slush refreezes.

Sunday turns partly sunny near 36, but another 40% snow chance returns Sunday night. Monday keeps snow chances in play with highs near 34.

Temperatures moderate slightly by midweek into the mid-30s, and longer-range trends hint at milder air building late next week. For now, winter still has a firm grip on eastern Massachusetts.
