Boston, Massachusetts – Scattered thunderstorms could disrupt plans across Massachusetts on Thursday, but conditions are expected to clear just in time for a sunny and comfortable Independence Day.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, highs will reach between 87 and 92 degrees on Thursday, with a risk of scattered storms—especially in interior areas. Skies are expected to turn mostly sunny by Friday, with cooler, less humid air settling in for the 4th of July weekend. Highs on the holiday itself will range from 80 to 85 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Central and western parts of the state, including Worcester County and the Pioneer Valley, may see stronger storm activity Thursday afternoon. Commuters along I-90 and I-495 should watch for slick roads and brief downpours. While severe weather isn’t expected, lightning and gusty winds could impact outdoor activities or travel.

Those hosting outdoor gatherings for the Fourth should consider tents or alternate plans for Thursday but can expect much more comfortable conditions by Friday morning. Charge phones, monitor alerts, and avoid flooded roadways during any storms.

More updates will follow as the holiday nears, especially if storm timing shifts.
