Boston, Massachusetts – Wet roads and reduced visibility are already creating slow travel across eastern Massachusetts this morning as steady rain continues through the early commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, widespread rain showers will persist through the morning hours across cities including Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and Providence. Rain coverage is expected to gradually taper by early afternoon, but conditions will not fully improve.

By mid to late afternoon, patchy drizzle and fog will develop across much of southern New England, lowering visibility and creating damp conditions into the evening. Areas along the coast, including Gloucester and New Bedford, could see the most persistent fog, especially near roadways and bridges.

Drivers along I-90, I-93, and Route 1 should expect slick pavement early, followed by reduced visibility later in the day. The combination of lingering moisture and fog may slow the evening commute significantly.

Residents are advised to allow extra travel time, use low-beam headlights in fog, and remain cautious on wet roads. Conditions are expected to remain gray and damp through tonight, with additional updates possible if visibility drops further.
