Boston, Massachusetts – Thunderstorms will drench Massachusetts Saturday, May 31, potentially disrupting travel along I-93 and I-95 with heavy downpours and gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service, rain and storms are likely between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday. Expect rainfall between a half to three-quarters of an inch, with higher totals in thunderstorms. Winds may gust up to 21 mph in the afternoon, especially across eastern Massachusetts. Motorists should expect slick roads and possible ponding in low-lying areas.

Saturday’s high will reach around 69°F, but conditions turn sharply drier and sunnier by Sunday, June 1. High pressure builds in with highs climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s, marking the start of a more summerlike pattern.

Boston, Worcester, and Lowell will see mostly sunny skies Sunday and Monday. Highs will rise into the mid-70s by Tuesday, June 3. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-50s, offering mild evenings for outdoor plans.

Wildfire smoke from Canada may linger through early next week, potentially reducing visibility and air quality, especially in urban areas.

  • Monday: Mostly sunny, high of 73°F.
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high of 74°F.
  • Wednesday: Warmer with highs near 78°F and light winds.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, high near 77°F.
