Boston, MA – Rain and strong winds will dampen St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Boston on Monday as a storm system moves through Massachusetts. The week starts with heavy rain and patchy fog, creating hazardous travel conditions before spring officially arrives Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday’s high will reach 59°F, but gusty south winds up to 21 mph and steady rainfall will make for a wet and blustery day. Patchy fog is expected in the morning, reducing visibility for commuters. Rainfall totals could range between three-quarters of an inch and an inch.
By Monday night, rain will continue before tapering off early Tuesday. Temperatures will drop to 39°F, with winds shifting northwest. Tuesday will bring a chance of morning showers, followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 52°F.
Looking ahead, Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 51°F, while Thursday—the official first day of spring—could see scattered showers with temperatures reaching 56°F. By Friday, a mix of sun and clouds is expected, with highs in the mid-50s.
Drivers should be cautious during Monday’s rain and fog, especially along major routes like I-93 and the Mass Pike. Umbrellas and waterproof gear will be necessary for anyone heading out to St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
